Born in Columbus, Ohio, MJ has made it her mission to attain her big city dreams of becoming a worldwide entertainer. MJ has been dancing, singing, and making music since the very young age of seven years old. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. Its difficult to discern which of these apply, but she has always had a great desire to leave an important mark on the world.
She began performing at local talent shows, pageants and plays in Ohio and later moved to D.C. While in D.C., she attended the Duke Ellington School of the Arts where she studied classical voice. Many doors were opened as a member of the Ellington Show Choir in which she performed with Patti LaBelle, Earth, Wind and Fire, Maroon 5, and also for President Obama, the First Lady, and VP Joe Biden. MJ then attended George Mason University pursuing a BFA in Music and later moved to New York City where she currently resides.
Shortly after moving to New York, MJ has worked with former Atlantic Records artist Wes Walker, won iStandards iWrite competition in both NY and LA, and is currently in the studio working on her solo EP. MJ, a dedicated and ambitious young artist is eager to make her mark in the music industry and is well on her way.
