A young Canadian band of 4 hailing from North Vancouver, British Columbia. Still based in North Vancouver the group consists of lead vocalist Matt Purkiss, guitarist Mack Riddell, bassist Avery John Shoesmith and drummer Sam Riddell.
Formed in 2018, Black Pontiac have just released their first EP “PONYBOY”, supporting their first charting single in both the USA and Canada “NOVEMBER STATE OF MIND”. The EP
was co-produced and engineered by Darren Grahn who has worked with such artists as Metallica, Motley Crue, Veruca Salt and Bon Jovi and worked as an engineer with famed
producer Bob Rock.
The band recently signed with the Vancouver independent label Appreciated Music and then the band went from obscurity to local popularity and now with their first single they are accumulating many fans all over North America.
In November of 2019 the song “NOVEMBER STATE OF MIND” was released and is fast becoming a hit based on radio airplay and the band are currently in pre-production of a Music
Video to support the single. All members of Black Pontiac collaborate on the songs and like to say when asked about their music that they are rock, punk funk band and If you were to pick a band that they sound similar to you would probably say The Red Hot Chili Peppers… with a modern, rap, funk, youthful twist. But they very much have their own sound.
They have only been together for just over a year, yet in that year they have exploded and gained huge respect in the Vancouver music scene playing every original venue in the City multiple times and ready to hit the road. The band is now ready to get to that the next level with the most recent radio exposure and their fanbase is expanding exponentially. The band plans to join as a supporting act in late 2020 and will be ready to support their debut album that they are currently writing.
