Akron Ohio native Victor Newman was introduced to the music scene in the 80’s as a DJ. In 1993 he continued to be an iconic turntable master but ventured into the creative world of production guided by the skillful insight of veteran producers Norman Whitfield Sr. (Marvin Gaye, The Temptations and Rare Earth) and David “DCX” Cochrane (Lionel Richie, The Commodores and Paula Abdul). His production talents lead him to work with a large array of artist from the Four Tops to Snoop Dogg, Flo-Rida, to many other well-known artist in many diverse genres from Hip Hop, Pop, soul and even Jazz. From 2012-present Victor Moved to Tokyo Japan. With a short hiatus Victor set out to build his third Studio Funtime Productions. Victor soon met his current Partner Jonathan Underdown. After partnering up with Jon in 2014, they finally had the chance to build Funtime Productions in 2018. Victor is currently the President of Funtime productions an indie label that has collaborated with a few of the leading artist in the industry In Tokyo, Japan. Victor had become a chief surgeon in the studio. His focus on detail and thirst for new challenges started early on in his career when he built his first studio in Hollywood in 2004. Victor is a walking contradiction influenced by the Motown, New Jack Swing, R&B and Hip Pop melodies of his childhood. Mentored by legends like Norman Whitfield SR, the Ohio native prides himself most on eclecticism and going against the grain. Victor has devoted himself to combining hip hop, soul and rock & roll into a new genre of sound he calls Power Music. He is currently focusing his efforts on expanding the Funtime repertoire by fusing world music with contemporary heat. With the release of “No Pain” (Funtime) the music world is about to explode with the sounds and wonder of Victor Newman.
